Weekend Recap
This past weekend, the Suns snuck out two wins in a tight-matched fast-paced battle against the Bantam Beauties, a young skilled team made up mostly of the 2015 Trinity College National Championship team.

Sun's Split / CoRdes’ Hoorah
This weekend brought some new circumstance for the Sun’s to experience as they battled the East Coast Guttersnipes for 120 minutes and came out of the 2-game series with a split. Friday night, they shot out to a big 4-goal lead only to squeak out the 1-goal victory on the back of a fantastic netminding performance by goaltender Bobby Bowden. The Saturday night loss was Sun Valley’s first for the year despite a valiant comeback effort in the third period. In what was nearly a mirror image of Friday’s tilt, the Guttersnipes bullied there way to a four goal lead only to have the junkyard dog Sun’s never give up and find a way to get back to within one goal in the final minutes of way before the “Snipes” ultimately capped the night off by burying an empty net tally to keep the margin out of reach.
As we all in the Valley have grown to expect it was a fun, fast, and memorable weekend full of talent, competition, and spectacle as Bobby Farrelly’s Guttersnipes continue to be a highlight of the Sun’s season for fans and players alike. Truly no better weekend to say a fond farewell to longtime sports literary legend and local hero, Jeff Cordes. After a remarkable 43 year career, the Sun’s were proud to honor Jeff’s legacy of remarkable service to the Wood River Valley. Jeff, we can’t thank and appreciate you enough, your tireless contributions will be missed.
